Welcome to Skylark Hill

Award winning cheese

World Cheese Awards

Skylark Hill goats cheese has won many awards including First and a Third at the 2003 Nantwich Cheese Show, a Silver Award in the World Cheese Awards 2002 and a “Very Highly Commended” at the International Nantwich Cheese Show 2002.

The cheese is used by chefs in many of the top restaurants in Nottingham and the Vale of Belvoir, as well as other in areas of the UK.

Nottingham Restaurant Awards found that it’s no mean feat to cater for 360 of your peers. Deciding on the menu was no easy task and all of the chefs were very keen to use local produce. In the end, the chefs opted for lamb… Rack of Belvoir Estate Lamb with a Mini Shepherds Pie and Braised Lamb Faggot served with local Asparagus, Baby Carrots and Pea Puree, and for the vegetarian option, Red Onion & Skylark Hill Goat’s Cheese Tart, again served with local Asparagus and Baby Carrots.

The Michelin-starred Red Lion Inn at Stathern, Leicestershire has been named England's Pub of the Year by the AA Pub of the Year Awards scheme. Ben Jones praised the vast array of local produce available in the Vale of Belvoir. Popular dishes include half a Melton Mowbray pork pie served with home made piccalilli and salad, local goats cheese delivered weekly from Skylark Hill, and Lincolnshire sausages made by the local butcher.

Award-winning pub, the Olive Branch in Clipsham say, "Cheese buffs will need restraining, with goats cheese from Skylark Hill, Lincolnshire Poacher and Colston Bassett to name but three."

Finally we featured a couple making some award winning goats cheese – from organic Anglo-Nubian Goats - on the Nottinghamshire/Leicestershire border. The couple have not been long in their cottage industry, but already they have won awards at numerous cheese festivals. The producers are called Skylark Hill Goats, near the village of Upper Broughton.
