Skylark Hill Goats is
a small goat farm with its own cheese-making dairy on the farm. We produce
for sale, soft goats’ cheese using only the milk from our own goats. Most of
the produce is delivered fresh to good quality restaurants in individual
portions. The chefs devise many recipes using it in various ways; it is
particularly delicious when warmed. It is very popular with both the chefs
and the customers and has won many awards.
Self Catering
Accommodation
We have converted one end of
our dairy building into a self contained, semi-detached bungalow which we
now offer to visitors as self-catering holiday accommodation.
In the summer season, visitors may watch the farm
activities including the milking and cheesemaking and purchase our very
fresh unpasteurised goats’ milk and soft cheese.
Good quality goats’ cheese must
start with quality goats. We breed our own, and keep them together in one
herd in the most beneficial ways possible. The adults are milked twice a day
for nine months a year under strict hygiene regulations. Cheese making is
started within minutes of the milk leaving the goats. The milk is not
heated, stored or shaken in tanker lorry, ensuring the fresh, clean mild
taste of the cheese.
